今話題沸騰中のNFT(従来)と今後Symbolが実現しようとしているフルオンチェーンのNFTの違いを皆さんはご存じでしょうか？
「フルオンチェーンNFT」という単語でググってみてください。

はい、そうなんですよ。まだ全然検索にヒットしてこないんです。

ですが、少しずつオンチェーン、フルオンチェーンという言葉を耳にするようになりましたよね。

従来のNFTの問題点とは何でしょうか？一枚のスライドに纏めてみましたので、是非ご覧ください。

従来型のIPFSによるデータの保存を行っているNFTはアップロードしたサーバにしか実体のデータは存在しておらず、ピン留めしてないサーバには、全く分散化されていないことになります。さらにピン留めされていたとしても、そのデータはキャッシュ上に存在するだけで、GC(ガベージコレクション)などが発生し、キャッシュがクリアされてしまうと分散化されたデータは消えてしまいます。

・・・いかがでしょうか？フルオンチェーンのNFTがいかに価値が高いものであるか、イメージはできましたでしょうか。

そうなんです。全サーバに実体データが保存され、全サーバが同時にクラッシュしない限り、データがどこかのサーバ上に必ず存続し続けるのです。これが一番の大きな違いであり、フルオンチェーンNFTの価値は従来のNFTと段違いのものであるといわれる理由です。

これが実現できるSymbolってやっぱり素晴らしい技術に支えられていますよね。

What is Full-on-chain NFT?

Do you know the difference between conventional NFT and the Fully-on-chain NFT which Symbol is about to implement? Go Google the words "Fully-on-chain NFT". yeah... you see... no hits or only a few hits come up for now, right? You might already have heard the words "On-chain" and "Fully-on-chain" or hear them in near future. What kind of problems does Conventional NFT have? Let's take a look at the slide below, and find out why "Fully-on-chain NFT" can solve the problem which "Conventional NFT" has.

Basically, "Conventional NFT" stores the data using IPFS; the data itself is stored only on the server which it was uploaded to, not on other servers unless it's pinned. Even if the data is pinned, it's only in the cache. That means the data will be gone when the GC (garbage collection) clears the cache. ....What do you think? Now you know the difference and the value of "Fully-on-chain NFT", don't you? As you know, with "Fully-on-chain NFT", the data itself will be stored on all servers and remain unless all servers crashes at the same time. It's the significant difference and the reason why "Fully-on-chain NFT" is considered as much more valuable than other conventional NFT. Great technology supports the Symbol to achieve this.
